Peoria Historical Calendar 2015 Preview

Mark your calendars, the 2015 Peoria Historical Calendar will be available in mid-November! This year the calendar is going back to its roots by featuring 13 historical photographs of the downtown Peoria Warehouse District.  The photographs were provided by the Peoria Historical Society and Bradley University’s Special Collections Center, along with most of the historical content for each page.  CityLink is excited to feature unique photos of an area of Peoria that is undergoing a revitalization.
 

CityLink's Demonstration Bike Rack Debuts at the RiverFront Market

CityLink employees Dave Atkinson and Jerry Miller recently came up with the concept and construction of a new bike rack for demonstration purposes.  While there are many bicycle riders in Peoria, some may be cautious about using the bus racks, because they’ve never used one before and they don’t want to hold up the bus.  The demonstration bike rack provides a hands-on opportunity for bike users and the general public to learn how to operate the rack.

    Northside Transfer Zone Study Update

    As part of a process to determine the feasibility of a transfer zone in Peoria’s north side, CityLink hosted a public open house on Tuesday, July 29 to outline potential locations for a facility.  In addition, a stakeholders meeting was held at Goodwill Industries Administrative Building that same day.

    Alwan & Sons Meat Company in Peoria has initiated an extensive advertising and promotion campaign featuring five wrapped buses.  The advertising encourages Peorians to shop at Alwan & Sons, and receive a single adult bus pass (provided by Alwan & Sons) with the purchase of $40.  The striking bus wraps have generated buzz in the Peoria area and created interest in this unique form of marketing.

    All-America City Celebration Comes to a Close

    The City of Peoria received its 4th All-America City title in 2013.  As the year-long celebration came to a close, a community art initiative was commissioned from local ceramics artist Jacob Grant.  Stickers which asked residents and visitors what makes Peoria an All-America City were filled out throughout the past year.

    The stickers were collected and assembled into a mural depicting the Peoria skyline, which was unveiled at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Thursday, June 26th.

    If you're traveling throughout the Peoria area, you might notice new vibrant bus wraps on several CityLink buses.  Alwan & Sons Meat Company has contracted with CityLink for five full bus wraps for two years.  They are also offering one free single ride bus ticket to all Alwan & Sons customers who spend $40.  The tickets are provided by Alwan & Sons.
