CityLink 2nd Shift Maintenance Foreman, Jim Harness, was recently featured on the Susan G. Komen Memorial Affiliate Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/komenpeoria) for making a donation to the organization. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Jim was making the donation on behalf of a gaming group he belongs to called Fans of Gaming. CityLink decided they had to learn more about Fans of Gaming and Jim’s involvement in the group!
On Thursday, June 16, CityLink celebrated the 11th Annual Dump the Pump Day with a social media photo contest. Dump the Pump Day is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States each year. According to APTA’s May Transit Saving Report, a two-person household can save, on the average, $9,377 a year by downsizing to one car. In 2015, Americans took 10.6 billion trips on public transportation - the third highest in 10 years.

CityLink held a ceremony on Thursday, May 19, 2016 to dedicate the bus shelter located in front of Quest Charter Academy High School in honor of Glen and Polly Barton. Members of the CityLink Board of Trustees and members of the Quest Charter Academy Board of Directors were in attendance for the ceremony.

Today is Earth Day! CityLink began celebrating a couple of days early by providing free rides on Wednesday, April 20 for their 8th Annual Jerome Lilly Customer Appreciation Day. In addition, CityLink handed out a reusable water bottle to customers as a token of appreciation for being loyal bus riders.

CityLink is the sponsor of the Peoria Chiefs’ mascot, Homer, for the 2016 season. Naturally, Homer takes CityLink everywhere he needs to go, including Dozer Park! CityLink did a video shoot with Homer on April 13, and the bus took him to several places that day.
CityLink recently promoted Emily Watson as the new Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Emily began her career at CityLink in September 2012 as the part-time Marketing Assistant, and she was promoted to the full-time Marketing Assistant in July 2013.

CityLink hosted a Black History Month Program on Thursday, February 18 at the Transit Center. The program lasted approximately one hour, and included students from Christ Lutheran School and Peoria High School, and guest speakers Denise Moore (City of Peoria Councilwoman) and Laraine Bryson (Tri-County Urban League President).
CityLink is partnering with Peoria High School to celebrate Black History Month in February. Students from Peoria High School designed posters for one of their classes featuring historical African American figures, scenes, and quotes. The posters are now on display at the Transit Center for the entire month of February.
