CityLink Celebrates Bike to Work Week 2018

CityLink celebrated National Bike to Work Week by offering free rides to passengers traveling with a bicycle on fixed route buses May 14 through May 18.  May was National Bike Month, and the week of May 14-18 was dedicated to the promotion of biking to work instead of driving. This free ride offer during Bike to Work Week was in conjunction with CityLink’s continued support of the local non-profit bicycle advocacy organization, Bike Peoria.  CityLink and Bike Peoria are allies in promoting alternative and multimodal transportation options in the Peoria area.

This was the first time CityLink has offered free rides for Bike to Work Week. The weather was a bit touch and go that week, but there were several passengers who were able to take advantage of the free ride offer.

Clare Zell, who works at the Peoria Civic Center, shared her experience riding the bus that week on Facebook with the photos below.  She said her car was in the shop so she decided to ride CityLink and her bike that day.

CityLink plans to look for ways to expand on celebrating Bike to Work Week by partnering with Bike Peoria again in the future.

For more information on riding your bike a using CityLink, visit the Bikes and CityLink page on our website.
