Six New Paratransit Vehicles Go Into Service for GPMTD

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) received six new paratransit vehicles in December 2017.  These vehicles are in addition to the 26 new paratransit vehicles that were received earlier in 2017.

Five of the vehicles were recently added to the CityLift fleet, which now has a total of 31 new vehicles.

The other vehicle is being used as a CityLink supervisor vehicle. It has the same specifications as the other five vehicles; however, it includes a two-slot bicycle rack affixed to the front of the vehicle because, at times, CityLink supervisors use these vehicles to transport passengers.

Like the vehicles received earlier in 2017, these vehicles are also Ford E450 Body-on-Chassis with a Champion Challenger body.  They have the capacity to accommodate up to 14 passengers and numerous wheelchairs.  They also have a specially designed roof to increase passenger safety and the latest enhancements in seatbelt and wheelchair securements.  The interior also features high-quality spill-resistant vinyl passenger seating and LED lighting.

The vehicles were manufactured by Champion in Imlay City, Michigan and brokered by Central States Bus Sales, Inc. in Fenton, MO.
