Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive Partners with Peoria Ghostbusters and Peoria Fire Department Explorers

The Stuff-A-Bus food drive had two new partnerships for the 2017 campaign. Ghostbusters Peoria reached out to us and wanted to help with the food drive in some way. Even though they were not originally scheduled to participate, we were able to quickly put together a fun and unique event at the Kroger in East Peoria from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on November 19.

Three of the Ghostbusters participated in full gear and with their very own version of Ecto! The guys handed out shopping lists and encouraged customers to donate. We learned that the guys and Ecto certainly garner a lot of attention!

The Ghostbusters also helped load donations on to the bus.

ATU #416 President Ron Cox and his wife Sharon even got a photo with the Ghostbusters!

That same day, we also had an event with another new partnership this year, the Peoria Fire Department Explorers, at the Kroger on Lindbergh Drive in Peoria from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Several of the Explorers volunteered in shifts to hand out shopping lists and encourage customers to donate. When they first arrived at the store, the donation bin was overflowing, so they went to work helping load the donations on to the bus.

The Explorers also assisted with making up donations bags since the store was running low that day.

The Peoria Fire Department had been collecting donations for Stuff-A-Bus prior to the event and they brought those along to the store and loaded them on to the bus.

Over all, it was a very busy day for Stuff-A-Bus, but we are so grateful for wonderful community partnerships like the ones we have established with Ghostbusters Peoria and the Peoria Fire Department Explorers. We would like to thank both organizations for their support of Stuff-A-Bus. We look forward to working with them again during next year's food drive!
