Peoria Public Library Brings Little Free Library to CityLink Transit Center

The Peoria Public Library and CityLink have collaborated to offer a Little Free Library at the Downtown Peoria Transit Center. The Little Free Library box was purchased by the Friends of the Peoria Public Library and delivered to the Transit Center by representatives from the library on August 10.

“GPMTD is pleased to offer this Little Free Library at our Transit Center. We believe it provides a unique opportunity for our passengers to pick up a book while they’re waiting for the bus, and then eventually return the book or leave another book behind for others to enjoy,” said Art Bell, GPMTD Board Treasurer. “Personally, I am hoping the Little Free Library remains well stocked with children’s books so the many children who visit the Transit Center on a daily basis have access to books,” continued Bell.

After the first 24 hours of the Little Free Library’s delivery to the Transit Center, only three books were left! It was soon restocked with new books for passengers to enjoy.

CityLink is proud to be the first official Little Free Library sponsored by The Friends of Peoria Public Library in Peoria. According to Trisha Noack of the Peoria Public Library, there are plans for two more Little Free Libraries to pop up in Peoria soon.

The box has been permanently affixed to one of the walls inside the Transit Center lobby. It is located next to the Ticket Vending Machine to the right of the elevator.

The Peoria Public Library will continue to monitor the stock of books in the Little Free Library at the Transit Center, and they will donate additional books as needed. However, if you are interested in donating books for the Little Free Library at the Transit Center, please feel free to drop off books at either the Transit Center (407 SW Adams) or CityLink Administrative office (2105 NE Jefferson) during normal business hours. If you have questions about donating, please call 309-676-4040 and ask to speak to Andrew Dwyer or Emily Watson. You can also donate books directly to the Friends of the Peoria Public Library at any library branch.
