CityLink Celebrates the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day

CityLink participated in the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day on June 15. Dump the Pump Day is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States. According to the APTA June Transit Savings Report, the annual savings is $9,797 for a person who switches his or her daily commute by car to taking public transportation. Individuals who ride public transportation instead of driving can save, on average, more than $816 per month. In 2016, Americans took 10.4 billion trips on public transportation.

CityLink celebrated Dump the Pump Day with a “Get Caught Riding” activity. There were eight representatives from CityLink that boarded random buses throughout the day and surprised passengers with prizes for riding the bus. Among the potential prizes were Day Passes, 30-Day Passes, restaurant gift cards and Peoria Chiefs ticket vouchers. Up to 250 prizes were handed out to passengers that day.

Several passengers on other routes were surprised that day, and the above photos showcase just a few of the prizes that were handed out. The representatives from CityLink who participated that day had fun riding the buses and interacting with passengers. CityLink would like to continue doing an event similar to this annually in celebration of Dump the Pump Day.
