CityLink Provides Traveling Training for Counselors of Adventure Camp at the Franciscan Recreational Complex

CityLink provided Travel Training for some of the counselors for the Adventure Camp at Franciscan Recreational Complex on May 26.  The counselors wanted to familiarize themselves with CityLink because they plan to take campers on the bus for field trips to the Gwynn Family Aquatic Center and the Madison Park Golf Course this summer. The Travel Training program is coordinated by CityLink's Director of Mobility, Andrew Dwyer. He and CityLink Director of Marketing, Emily Watson, accompanied the counselors during their Traveling Training experience.

The group started out at the Franciscan Recreational Complex on N. Sterling Avenue. There is a bus shelter located in the lawn of the center, so the group waited there for the inbound #11 Western Route to stop at approximately 9:49 a.m.

While they were waiting, Andrew went over the printed Rider's Guide and also showed them how they can use Google Maps to access CityLink routes and schedules through a mobile device. (Learn more about using Google Maps for transit purposes here.)

Andrew showed the group how to properly insert their bus pass when entering the bus. They then took their seats and enjoyed a smooth ride on the #11 Western Route to the Transit Center courtesy of bus operator Tina. The ride gave the counselors the opportunity to locate the best stop for them to use when they want to get off the bus at their field trip destinations. The #11 Western Route has service to both the Gwynn Aquatic Center and the Madison Park Golf Course.

When the group arrived at the Transit Center Andrew gave them a brief tour of the lobby, including the public restroom locations, Customer Service windows, ticket vending machine and ATM locations, and services provided in the upstairs of the Transit Center.

It was then time to board the outbound #11 Western Route again to return back to the Franciscan Recreational Complex. The group enjoyed another smooth ride courtesy of bus operator Walter, and they were soon back to the origin of their trip at approximately 10:27 a.m.

Travel Training provides a great opportunity to learn more about CityLink service for individuals or small groups who want to take the bus but are unfamiliar with the routes or have reservations about taking the bus on their own. To inquire or learn more about the Traveling Training program, please call CityLink Customer Service at 309-676-4040 and ask to speak to Andrew Dwyer.
