30th Anniversary Celebration of the Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive Features Local Family at Kickoff

The 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Stuff-A-Bus food drive is underway!  The annual food drive benefits the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service and it officially began on Friday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. with a press conference at the Kroger store located at 801 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria.  Representatives from CityLink, the Peoria Friendship House and Kroger were on hand to kick off the annual food drive.  The goal this year is to collect 10 tons of food!

CityLink Receives Electric Bus Demo from Proterra

CityLink recently received a demonstration on an electric bus. Proterra, Inc. is currently taking one of its Catalyst® 40-foot electric battery buses on tour throughout the United States and it made a stop in Peoria on August 28. Members of CityLink's management and administrative staff had the opportunity to tour and ride the bus.

Peoria Public Library Brings Little Free Library to CityLink Transit Center

The Peoria Public Library and CityLink have collaborated to offer a Little Free Library at the Downtown Peoria Transit Center. The Little Free Library box was purchased by the Friends of the Peoria Public Library and delivered to the Transit Center by representatives from the library on August 10.

CityLink Receives Shout Out on the TODAY Show from Bus Operators Visiting NYC on Vacation

CityLink received a surprise shout out on the TODAY Show on July 27 when two bus operators were on spotted holding up a sign that said "HEY CITYLINK PEORIA, IL" on the Plaza. Operators Lonnetta Doss and Valerie Wilson went to the TODAY Show during their vacation to New York City with the "Traveling Divas."

Lonnetta and Valerie said this was their first time going on a trip with the Traveling Divas, but the group was established in 2013.

GPMTD Receives New Paratransit Vehicles

GPMTD recently received new paratransit (CityLift) vehicles. The vehicles received are Ford E450 Body-on-Chassis with a Champion Challenger body. They were manufactured by Champion in Imlay City, Michigan and brokered by Central States Bus Sales, Inc. in Fenton, MO. 

These vehicles have the capacity to accommodate up to 14 passengers and numerous wheelchairs. They have a specially designed roof to increase passenger safety and the latest enhancements in seatbelt and wheelchair securements. CityLink Celebrates the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day

CityLink participated in the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day on June 15. Dump the Pump Day is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States. According to the APTA June Transit Savings Report, the annual savings is $9,797 for a person who switches his or her daily commute by car to taking public transportation. Individuals who ride public transportation instead of driving can save, on average, more than $816 per month. In 2016, Americans took 10.4 billion trips on public transportation....Read more
