Kroger Donates $500 to Kickoff 29th Annual Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive

The 2016 Stuff-A-Bus food drive for Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service officially began on Friday, October 28 with a press conference at the Kroger store located at 801 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria.  It was great to see all the representatives from CityLink, the Peoria Friendship House and Kroger on hand to kick off the 29th annual food drive.

Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service President & CEO Melanie McNiff (L) and CityLink Director of Marketing Emily Watson (R) at the Stuff-A-Bus kickoff.

It was announced at the press conference that the goal this year is to collect 13 tons of food and OVERSTUFF the bus!

L-R: Melanie McNiff from Peoria Friendship House, CItyLink General Manager Al Stanek, and Emily Watson from CityLink during the press conference.

Brad Aberle from Kroger (L) presents a check for $500 to Melanie McNiff from Peoria Friendship House at the kickoff.  The money will be used to purchase food for Stuff-A-Bus!

After the press conference concluded, several individuals helped put the first donations to Stuff-A-Bus on the bus.

The bus was looking pretty empty at the kickoff, but we hope to see it filled to the roof by November 29!

ATU Local #416 President and CityLink General Foreman Ron Cox poses in front of the 1975 classic CityLink bus that will soon be stuffed with food to benefit the 29th Annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive.

There are several special events and activities will be held in support of this year's Stuff-A-Bus food drive. In addition to all Kroger locations in Peoria and East Peoria, there are several other locations serving as Stuff-A-Bus donation drop off locations.
