CityLink provided transportation during the 2017 IHSA Boys Basketball tournament at the Peoria Civic Center with the March Madness Express Shuttle. This service has been provided by CityLink since the IHSA tournament came to Peoria in 1996. The shuttle consists of 6 buses that provide continuous service from participating Northwoods Mall area hotels and East Peoria area hotels from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. each weekend of the tournament. I had the opportunity to ride one of the new hybrid buses on February 17, 2017. This wasn't my first time riding one of the cool GREEN buses, but it was my first experience riding the bus with other passengers.
The purpose behind my "ride along" was to accomplish two things:
Have the opportunity to ride along on a route with passengers.
Talk to passengers and get their feedback on the new buses.

CityLink hosted a program to celebrate and honor Black History Month at the downtown CityLink Transit Center on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The program featured choir performances by 3rd grade students from Christ Lutheran School; poem, skit and choir performances by Peoria High School students and alumna; and guest speaker Chris Reynolds, who currently serves as the Athletic Director at Bradley University.
Those in attendance were able to enjoy artwork depicting historical and current African American figures and inspirational quotes.
CityLink route and schedule information is now live in Google Maps and available for the general public to use. In order to assist customers who may not be familiar with Google Maps, this service can be used as an alternative to the printed CityLink Rider's Guide. We have created a "How To" guide from a desktop computer to assist those who may want guidance.

At the September 19, 2016 GPMTD Board of Trustees meeting, Heller Outdoor Group was awarded an exclusive contract to sell advertising on CityLift paratransit vehicles. Since the contract was awarded, President/Owner of Heller Outdoor Group, Neil Heller, has been very busy selling advertising wraps to local businesses in the Greater Peoria area. Thus far, 13 out of CityLift's 36 vehicles have wraps installed on all three sides of the vehicle. CityLink has added new 40’ New Flyer Xcelsior® diesel-electric hybrid buses to its fleet! The buses were manufactured by New Flyer in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Crookston, Minnesota, and they were purchased with the assistance of the Illinois Department of Transportation. The new hybrid buses have a completely different external and internal look than CityLink’s current fleet of buses.
You may have recently noticed several bus signs that feature familiar faces to customers who ride CityLink. That is because CityLink decided to honor several of our employees who have served in the U.S. Military this year for Veterans Day by having bus signs made that feature those employees who wished to participate.
The signs do not feature all of our employees who have served in the military, but there were 14 current CityLink employees who chose to participate.
The 2016 Stuff-A-Bus food drive for Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service officially began on Friday, October 28 with a press conference at the Kroger store located at 801 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria. It was great to see all the representatives from CityLink, the Peoria Friendship House and Kroger on hand to kick off the 29th annual food drive.
