Peoria Public Library Brings Little Free Library to CityLink Transit Center

The Peoria Public Library and CityLink have collaborated to offer a Little Free Library at the Downtown Peoria Transit Center. The Little Free Library box was purchased by the Friends of the Peoria Public Library and delivered to the Transit Center by representatives from the library on August 10.

CityLink Receives Shout Out on the TODAY Show from Bus Operators Visiting NYC on Vacation

CityLink received a surprise shout out on the TODAY Show on July 27 when two bus operators were on spotted holding up a sign that said "HEY CITYLINK PEORIA, IL" on the Plaza. Operators Lonnetta Doss and Valerie Wilson went to the TODAY Show during their vacation to New York City with the "Traveling Divas."

Lonnetta and Valerie said this was their first time going on a trip with the Traveling Divas, but the group was established in 2013.

CityLink Celebrates the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day

CityLink participated in the 12th Annual Dump the Pump Day on June 15. Dump the Pump Day is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States. According to the APTA June Transit Savings Report, the annual savings is $9,797 for a person who switches his or her daily commute by car to taking public transportation. Individuals who ride public transportation instead of driving can save, on average, more than $816 per month. In 2016, Americans took 10.4 billion trips on public transportation....Read more

CityLink Provides Traveling Training for Counselors of Adventure Camp at the Franciscan Recreational Complex

CityLink provided Travel Training for some of the counselors for the Adventure Camp at Franciscan Recreational Complex on May 26.  The counselors wanted to familiarize themselves with CityLink because they plan to take campers on the bus for field trips to the Gwynn Family Aquatic Center and the Madison Park Golf Course this summer. CityLink Receives People's Choice Award from Public Relations Association of Central Illinois

The CityLink Marketing Department received the People's Choice Award from the Public Relations Association of Central Illinois on May 17. The award was presented to CityLink's Director of Marketing & Public Relations, Emily Watson, for submitting the most favorite and fabulous piece of stand-alone work.  CityLink submitted a radio spot rap that was used during the 2016 Back-To-School advertising campaign. The spot was produced by Cumulus Media in Peoria and played on a variety of different local radio stations throughout the campaign.

Peoria Chiefs Players Take CityLink to Work in New Video

CityLink partnered with the Peoria Chiefs to shoot a video on April 17 featuring five Chiefs players commuting to work at Dozer Park by taking the bus. According to the Peoria Chiefs, several players take the bus on a regular basis because they don't have vehicles available while they play in Peoria. We knew we had to take advantage of this unique opportunity to showcase the Chiefs taking CityLink on their commute to work!

CityLink Partners with Bradley Student Senate and Smith Career Center for Snapchat Contest for Bradley University Students

CityLink recently partnered with the Student Senate and Smith Career Center at Bradley University for a contest on the social media platform Snapchat called “BU on the Bus.”
 
Students were invited to participate in the contest by posting creative videos and/or pictures while taking a CityLink bus or at the Transit Center to their Snapchat story. Contest entries were then downloaded and emailed to a representative from Bradley’s Student Senate. The most creative entries had the opportunity to win a gift card to local restaurants.

CityLink Provides Transportation During IHSA March Madness Basketball Tournament

CityLink provided transportation during the 2017 IHSA Boys Basketball tournament at the Peoria Civic Center with the March Madness Express Shuttle. This service has been provided by CityLink since the IHSA tournament came to Peoria in 1996. The shuttle consists of 6 buses that provide continuous service from participating Northwoods Mall area hotels and East Peoria area hotels from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. each weekend of the tournament. CityLink Director of Marketing Takes Ride on New Hybrid Bus

I had the opportunity to ride one of the new hybrid buses on February 17, 2017. This wasn't my first time riding one of the cool GREEN buses, but it was my first experience riding the bus with other passengers.

The purpose behind my "ride along" was to accomplish two things:

  1. Have the opportunity to ride along on a route with passengers.
  2. Talk to passengers and get their feedback on the new buses.
