CityLink to Provide Free Shuttle for Race for the Cure Participants

CityLink is making transportation easy for participants of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 9, 2015 by providing a free shuttle. Participants should arrive early for a Park and Ride Shuttle at either the Northwoods Mall (JC Penney entrance on the Sterling side), or Evergreen Square (LensCrafters). The shuttles begin transporting passengers to the Race for the Cure at 6:15 a.m. and will continue until 7:15 a.m. Buses will return passengers back to the Park and Ride locations immediately following the event once the streets...

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
CityLink to Celebrate Passenger Appreciation Day by Offering Free Rides on April 20

On Monday, April 20, CityLink will celebrate its 7th Annual Passenger Appreciation Day to honor Jerome Lilly by providing free rides to passengers all day on all fixed routes. Lilly, a beloved General Manager of CityLink, passed away unexpectedly in 2007. April 20 was chosen as the date for Passenger Appreciation Day because it was Lilly’s birthday.

CityLink Calls Upon Congress to Renew Investment in Public Transportation

PEORIA, IL April 9, 2015— CityLink today called upon Congress to renew funding for the federal transportation bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), which is set to expire on May 31, 2015. According to a recent report from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), if MAP-21 does expire, CityLink could stand to lose $27 million for mass transit projects alone.
CityLink to Host Stand Up 4 Transportation Day, April 9

Please join CityLink and other organizations on Thursday, April 9, 2015 as we collectively call attention to the state of our transportation infrastructure in this country. Stand Up for Transportation Day will be a local day for national education and outreach to the public and our elected officials. Our goal is to raise awareness for the nation’s long-term transportation infrastructure funding plight.
CityLink will not have service on Sunday, April 5 in observance of Easter. On April 4, the last lineup will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m. All buses return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.
The Transit Center will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on April 4. The CityLink Administrative office will be closed the entire weekend. Both locations resume normal operating hours on Monday, April 6.

CityLink to Provide March Madness Express Shuttle to IHSA Basketball Games

CityLink will operate continuous bus shuttles from participating hotels to the Peoria Civic Center for the Illinois High School Association Boys Basketball State Finals on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 for the Class 1A and 2A games, and Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21 for the Class 3A and 4A games. Shuttles will pick up in 20-30 minute increments beginning at 9:30 a.m. and run through 11:00 p.m. each weekend.

Joan Krupa Appointed to the GMPTD Board of Trustees

Joan Krupa was appointed to the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Board of Trustees at the February Board meeting. She was selected by the mayor of the Village of Peoria Heights to replace a recently vacated seat on the Board. Krupa’s term on the GPMTD Board of Trustees is four years, and she currently serves as the Secretary.

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Al Stanek as General Manager of the Great Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink). The appointment was approved at the regular meeting of the GPMTD Board on Monday, February 9, 2015.
