CityLink Announces New Director of Federal Programs and Director of Mobility

CityLink recently announced the addition of two experienced public transportation professionals to its leadership team.
 
Jill Goforth has joined CityLink in the new position of Director Federal Programs.  In this new role, Goforth will be responsible for ensuring CityLink is in compliance with all applicable federal laws, regulations, and policies; preparing quarterly Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant reports; ensuring grant timelines stay on track; and finding new grant opportunities for CityLink.

New CityLink Fare Program to Roll Out January 2

Some CityLink riders will be facing new bus fare options in the coming New Year as the area public transit agency reacts to increasing costs and the potential reduction in state financial support. The existing fare structure has remained essentially unchanged for nearly 15 years.
 
The base fare, which had originally been considered for a 50% increase in September, will not change but some riders who rely on taking more than one bus to their destination may have to pay twice if they do not opt for taking advantage of a new $3 Day Pass.

CityLink Holiday Hours of Operation

CityLink will not offer bus service on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, or New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1.  On Thursday, December 24 and Thursday, December 31, the last line up will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.  The Transit Center hours of operation on those days are 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

2016 Peoria Historical Calendar Features Streetcar Photo Collection

CityLink’s 2016 Peoria Historical Calendar is now available, and it would make a great stocking stuffer for local historians.  This year, the calendar features a collection of streetcar photographs taken by local train enthusiast Paul Stringham in the 1930s and 1940s when Illinois Power ran the electric streetcars in Peoria.  Stringham’s interest in streetcars stemmed from his father’s occupation as a streetcar motorman and car barn foreman for Illinois Power.  Stringham

28th Annual Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive Wraps Up with 9.18 Tons of Donations Collected

The 28th Annual Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive to benefit the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service officially wrapped up on Tuesday, December 1.  The campaign began on November 6 and concluded with a press conference at the Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service to announce the total weight of the bus filled with the food collected during the campaign.

The public can receive a complimentary 2016 Peoria Historical Calendar in exchange for a non-perishable food donation to the Stuff-A-Bus food drive at the CityLink Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams Street, on Wednesday, November 18. Representatives from CityLink will be in the Transit Center lobby from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day; however, individuals may still receive a calendar in exchange for a donation at the Customer Service windows until the Transit Center lobby closes at 8 p.m.

CityLink Offering Complimentary $3 Day Pass in Exchange For Three Non-Perishable Food Donations to Stuff-A-Bus on November 13

CityLink passengers can receive a complimentary $3 All Day Pass with the donation of three non-perishable food items for the Stuff-A-Bus food drive at the CityLink Transit Center lobby on Friday, November 13 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Three or more items are required to receive a complimentary Day Pass. This offer is limited to one Day Pass per customer.
 
The Day Pass offers unlimited rides for one passenger for one complete service day. The cost is $3 per pass, and transfers are not needed when using the Day Pass....

CityLink to Offer Free Ride Opportunities on November 11

CityLink will offer free rides to veterans on Wednesday, November 11 in honor of Veterans Day.  Passengers are asked to present valid veteran identification or CityLink half-fare ID to the bus operator upon boarding the bus.
 
Since November 2012, CityLink has offered half-fares to veterans.  CityLink encourages veterans to visit the Special Services office on the second level of the Transit Center to apply for a CityLink half-fare identification card.
