GPMTD is Now Offering Advertising Opportunities on Paratransit Vehicles

Businesses and organizations now have the opportunity to advertise with a mobile billboard wrap on paratransit vehicles in the Greater Peoria Area.  The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) has entered into a brokerage agreement with Heller Outdoor Group, Inc. for the sales of advertising on its 36 CityLift vehicles and 11 CountyLink vehicles.

CityLink to Extend Service on Knoxville North of Illinois Route 6 Starting September 6

Employees and customers of several businesses along Knoxville Avenue north of Illinois Route 6 will have the option of taking the bus for the first time on Tuesday, September 6.  The businesses being served include McDonald’s, Walgreens, Huck’s and the future Schnucks location in Knoxville Crossing.  The initial stop nearest the businesses will be at Crossing Drive and Knoxville and the service will operate as a partial weekday and full Saturday extension of the #4 Knoxville Route. 
 
Four mid-day buses and an early evening return trip will be available Monday...

CityLink Labor Day 2016 Service Alert

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, CityLink will not provide service on Monday, September 5.  The CityLink Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams, and the Administrative offices, located at 2105 NE Jefferson, will also be closed for the holiday.
 
On Sunday, September 4, the last lineup departs from the Transit Center at 7:30 p.m., and then all buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.  The Transit Center lobby will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The customer service windows will not be open.

Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Receives Paratransit Vehicles Grant

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) recently received a Paratransit Vehicles Grant from the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) through the Buses and Bus Facilities Grants Program – 5339.  This program makes federal resources available to states and direct recipients to replace and purchase buses and related equipment.
 
GPMTD applied for the Paratransit Vehicles Grant in April 2016 and was awarded the grant in June 2016.  The amount awarded from the FTA is $1,421,467, which will pay 85% of the total cost for GPMTD to replace its current fleet of aging...

CityLink 4th of July Hours of Operation and Park and Ride Shuttle Information

In honor of the Independence Day holiday, CityLink will not offer service on Monday, July 4.  On July 3, the last line-up will depart from the Transit Center at 7:30 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route. The CityLink Administrative offices will be closed on July 4, and will reopen on Tuesday, July 5. The Transit Center lobby will also be closed on July 4.  Regular service resumes and the Transit Center lobby will be open on July 5.

CityLink to Participate in 11th Annual Dump the Pump Day on June 16

CityLink will participate in the 11th Annual Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 16.  This is a national event recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and it is celebrated by transit agencies across the United States.  According to APTA’s May Transit Saving Report, a two-person household can save, on the average, $9,377 a year by downsizing to one car. In 2015, Americans took 10.6 billion trips on public transportation - the third highest in 10 years.

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, CityLink will not provide service on Monday, May 30, 2016.  
 
The CityLink Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams, and the Administrative offices, located at 2105 NE Jefferson, will also be closed for the holiday.  The Transit Center lobby will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.  The customer service windows will not be open.

CityLink will dedicate the bus shelter located in front of Quest Charter Academy High School in honor of Glen and Polly Barton on Thursday, May 19.  The ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the bus shelter, located at 2503 N. University Street. Members of the CityLink Board of Trustees and members of the Quest Charter Academy Board of Directors are expected to be in attendance.

Dr. Maxine Wortham Named Chair of GPMTD Board of Trustees

Members of the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) Board of Trustees selected Dr. Maxine Wortham as the new Board Chair at the May 9, 2016 Board Meeting.  This will be Dr. Wortham’s first term as Board Chair.  She previously served as Vice Chair for two terms and has served as the Chair of the Program Development Committee.
