CityLink to Observe Holiday Schedule

CityLink will not offer service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22.  On Wednesday, November 21, the last line-up will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after the 8:45 p.m. outbound trips are completed.

Bus service resumes as scheduled Friday, November, 23.  The administrative offices will be closed Friday, November 23.  The Transit Center Customer Service and ticket offices will maintain regular business hours on Friday and Saturday.

2013 Peoria Historical Calendar Give-a-Way for Stuff-A-Bus

As part of the annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive, CityLink will hold Calendar Day on November 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams St. and at the CityLink Administration Offices, located at 2105 NE Jefferson Ave.  The public can receive a 2013 Peoria Historical Calendar from either CityLink location in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food.  A radio personality from 97.3 River Country will be at the Transit Center location from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

CityLink Offers Free Rides to Veterans on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, CityLink will offer free rides to veterans on Monday, November 12, 2012.  CityLink has traditionally offered free rides to veterans on the date Veterans Day is observed.  Veterans can notify the bus driver they are a veteran in order to receive a free ride on November 12.

In addition, starting November 13, CityLink will permanently offer half-fares to veterans with a valid identification from the VA Health Care System.

CityLink Offers "Ride Free" Days

On Wednesday, November 7th and Wednesday, November 14th, CityLink passengers can ride the bus for free in exchange for a non-perishable food item. On these days Ryan Black from Power 92.3 radio will broadcast live in the afternoon from a CityLink bus.

For the past 25 years, CityLink, Kroger and Peoria Friendship House (PFH) have joined hands in an effort to gather enough food to stuff a CityLink bus.  The goal this year is to collect 25 tons in honor of the 25th anniversary.  The food is then distributed during the year through the PFH Food Pantry. Stuff-A-Bus Kick-Off Event

The annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and kicks off Monday, October 29 at 10 a.m. at the Kroger store located at 9219 N. Lindbergh Drive, Peoria. As part of the event, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Stuff-A-Bus. The food collection runs from October 29 through December 2.  Final tonnage in the “stuffed” bus will be announced December 3.

New Bus Stops at Glen Oak Roundabout

In an effort to ensure safety for its passengers riding the #14 Wisconsin Route, CityLink is creating new bus stops in the area of the new roundabout at Glen Oak, Pennsylvania and Wayne.  Bus stops near the new roundabout at Glen Oak and Wayne will be created as follows:

On the outbound route, the bus stop will be made on Glen Oak, just before entering the roundabout, prior to the crosswalk. A concrete pad has been poured in this location to be in compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). No stops will be made in the roundabout or on the far side immediately...

“Waffles and Wings” Luncheon

On Wednesday, October 17, Peorians will once again have the opportunity to lunch on southern comfort fare at the 3rd Annual Waffles and Wings luncheon. A longtime staple of the Deep South, this combination has become a trendy meal in larger cities in the north.  Celebrities, including Gladys Knight, have made it a signature dish at their restaurants.  The fundraiser supporting the 2012 Stuff-a-Bus food drive for Peoria Friendship house will take place at 11:30 am at Barrack’s Cater Inn, 1224 W. Pioneer Parkway, Peoria.

Transit Service Not Offered on Labor Day

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, CityLink and CityLift (paratransit service) will not be providing service on Monday, September 3.

The CityLink Transit Center at 407 SW Adams and the Administration Offices at 2105 NE Jefferson also will be closed for the holiday.

Full service will resume on Tuesday, September 4.

CityLink Hosted ATCI Workshop

Citylink hosted a two-day planning workshop as part of the Accessible Transportation Coalitions Initiative (ATCI) offered by Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA).  The Peoria area was among 10 communities from throughout the U.S. selected to participate in the initiative. Peoria was selected through a competitive application process in which a commitment to improving accessibility had to be expressed.  The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District – CityLink – is the agency selected to lead the local efforts of the initiative.
