CityLink Sees Record Ridership

Following a nationwide trend, the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) experienced an increase in total ridership during 2012. Ridership during the calendar year was 3,454,745, an 8.62% increase over the previous year’s number of 3,180,714.

Last of 46 New Buses Rolls Off the Line

Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) General Manager Tom Lucek and General Foreman Ron Cox visited the Gillig factory in Hayward, California on Monday, January 7, to see the final bus of the 46 new buses ordered by the company roll off the factory line.

2013 Calendar Still Available

2013 Peoria Historical Calendars are still available to purchase at the CityLink administrative office, located at 2105 NE Jefferson, and at the CityLink Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams. The suggested donation for a calendar is $5.00, with all proceeds going to the Peoria Friendship House.

Stuff-a-Bus Campaign Collects Nine Tons of Food

The 25th annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign wrapped up on December 3, 10 a.m. with a press conference at the CityLink Transit Center, 407 SW Adams Peoria. The classic GP Transit bus, used to collect the food, was weighed earlier that morning.  Through the generosity of the people of the greater Peoria area, 4.99 tons or 9980 pounds of non-perishable food were collected on the bus.  An additional estimated four (4) tons of non-perishable food items were donated directly to the Peoria Friendship House during the month-long campaign.  The total amount of food collected during the campaign was 9...

CityLink to Observe Holiday Schedule

CityLink will not offer service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22.  On Wednesday, November 21, the last line-up will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after the 8:45 p.m. outbound trips are completed.

Bus service resumes as scheduled Friday, November, 23.  The administrative offices will be closed Friday, November 23.  The Transit Center Customer Service and ticket offices will maintain regular business hours on Friday and Saturday.

2013 Peoria Historical Calendar Give-a-Way for Stuff-A-Bus

As part of the annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive, CityLink will hold Calendar Day on November 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams St. and at the CityLink Administration Offices, located at 2105 NE Jefferson Ave.  The public can receive a 2013 Peoria Historical Calendar from either CityLink location in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food.  A radio personality from 97.3 River Country will be at the Transit Center location from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

CityLink Offers Free Rides to Veterans on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, CityLink will offer free rides to veterans on Monday, November 12, 2012.  CityLink has traditionally offered free rides to veterans on the date Veterans Day is observed.  Veterans can notify the bus driver they are a veteran in order to receive a free ride on November 12.

In addition, starting November 13, CityLink will permanently offer half-fares to veterans with a valid identification from the VA Health Care System.

CityLink Offers "Ride Free" Days

On Wednesday, November 7th and Wednesday, November 14th, CityLink passengers can ride the bus for free in exchange for a non-perishable food item. On these days Ryan Black from Power 92.3 radio will broadcast live in the afternoon from a CityLink bus.

Stuff-A-Bus Kick-Off Event

The annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and kicks off Monday, October 29 at 10 a.m. at the Kroger store located at 9219 N. Lindbergh Drive, Peoria. As part of the event, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Stuff-A-Bus. The food collection runs from October 29 through December 2.  Final tonnage in the “stuffed” bus will be announced December 3.

New Bus Stops at Glen Oak Roundabout

In an effort to ensure safety for its passengers riding the #14 Wisconsin Route, CityLink is creating new bus stops in the area of the new roundabout at Glen Oak, Pennsylvania and Wayne.  Bus stops near the new roundabout at Glen Oak and Wayne will be created as follows:
