CityLink Ridership Grows by Almost 1 Million During 5-Year Period

The latest Fiscal Year numbers released by CityLink indicate that ridership for the bus system grew by almost one million trips or a 40% increase over a five-year period.  In June 2008, CityLink’s ridership for the fiscal year was 2,435,031.  By the following year, ridership grew 25% to 3,026,541.  Ridership in Fiscal Year 2010 showed a slight dip, but subsequent years show a steady increase, culminating in 3,408,232 trips by the end of June 2013.

July 4th Service Hours and Park and Ride Information

CityLink will not offer regular bus service on Thursday, July 4, 2013, in honor of the 4th of July holiday. On July 3, the last line-up will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m., and then all buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route. The Transit Center lobby and CityLink Administrative offices will be closed July 4.  Regular service resumes and offices will be open on July 5.

CityLink Launches New Advertising Campaign

CityLink's television advertising campaign showcases the agency's new fleet of buses.  Featuring passenger testimonials, the commercials highlight CityLink's affordability, convenience and reliability.  The rotating spots are airing on local broadcast stations, and are featured on the station websites as well.

Passenger Appreciation Day Planned for April 20

On Saturday, April 20, 2013, CityLink will promote the 5th Annual Passenger Appreciation Day in honor of Jerome Lilly by providing free rides to passengers all day on all fixed routes.  Lilly was the beloved General Manager of CityLink, who passed away unexpectedly in 2007.  April 20th is Lilly’s birthday anniversary.  In addition, special Jerome Lilly coin pouches will be given away at the downtown Transit Center, located at 407 SW Adams St., starting at 9:00 a.m.

Transportation Coalition Working to Improve Accessibility

A task force formed last summer has been working diligently to improve access to transportation for individuals with disabilities in the greater Peoria area.

Under the umbrella of Accessible Transportation Coalitions Initiative (ATCI) offered by Easter Seals Project ACTION (ESPA), the committee has met monthly to address priorities established during a two-day workshop in August 2012.
