CityLink to Celebrate 10th Annual Jerome Lilly Passenger Appreciation Day on Apr. 20

On Friday, April 20, 2018, CityLink will celebrate its 10th Annual Passenger Appreciation Day to honor Jerome Lilly by providing free rides to passengers all day on all fixed routes.  Lilly, a beloved General Manager of CityLink, passed away unexpectedly in 2007.  April 20 the following year was chosen as the date for Passenger Appreciation Day because it was Lilly’s birthday.

CityLink Receives $3.6 Million Grant from FTA for New Maintenance & Operations Facility

CityLink received a $3.6 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), a division of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), for the construction of a new bus maintenance and operations facility.  $264 million in grants were announced on April 5, 2018, and CityLink was one of 139 projects selected nationwide that will be funded by the FTA’s Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program.

CityLink Partners with the Peoria Chiefs to Offer Discount on Chiefs Tickets During 2018 Season

CityLink is once again partnering with the Peoria Chiefs to offer a discount for tickets to select Chiefs home games during the 2018 season.  Fans can receive up to four tickets for $5 each when they present a CityLink bus pass at the Dozer Park box office for Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday home games all season long beginning on Saturday, April 7, 2018.  The limit is four tickets per game and only one bus pass is required to purchase the tickets at the discounted rate.

CityLink Easter Sunday Hours of Operation 2018

In observance of the Easter Sunday holiday, CityLink will not have service on Sunday, April 1, 2018.  On March 31, the last lineup will depart from the Transit Center at 8:45 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.

The Transit Center Customer Service windows will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on March 31.  The CityLink Administrative office will be closed the entire weekend.  Both locations resume normal operating hours on Monday, April 2.

CityLink to Provide March Madness Transportation for 2018 IHSA Basketball Tournament

CityLink will operate continuous bus shuttles from participating hotels to the Peoria Civic Center for the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys Basketball State Finals on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10 for the Class 1A and 2A games, and Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17 for the Class 3A and 4A games. Shuttles will pick up in 20-30 minute increments beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will run through 11:00 p.m. each weekend.

#18 Pekin South Route to Provide Service to UnityPoint Pekin East Facility & Avanti’s Dome Starting Mar. 5

CityLink has made a minor adjustment to the #18 Pekin South Route to provide service to the UnityPoint Pekin East facility and the Avanti’s Dome, both located on Griffin Street, effective March 5, 2018.
 
The #18 will now provide hourly inbound service to the UnityPoint Pekin East facility and the Avanti’s Dome area at approximately 14 after the hour beginning at 7:14 a.m. through 5:14 p.m.  The inbound departure time from Walmart will now be two minutes later at approximately 12 after the hour starting at 7:12 a.m. through 5:12 p.m.

CityLink Donates Bus to Illinois Central College for Educational Purposes

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) officially donated a 35-foot Gillig diesel bus to the Diesel Powered Equipment Technology (DPET) program at Illinois Central College during a press conference on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.  

Bus 1903 was initially placed into service in March 2004, and it was removed from CityLink’s active fleet in fall 2017.  The bus exceeded the average useful life expectancy of 12 years for a public transportation bus.  This number is dictated by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

CityLink Winter Holiday Hours of Operation 2017

CityLink will not offer bus service on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, or New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1.  On Sunday, December 24 and Sunday, December 31, the last line up will depart from the Transit Center at 7:30 p.m.  All buses will return to the garage after reaching the end of the outbound route.  The Transit Center Customer Service hours of operation on those days are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

CityLink to Re-Evaluate Proposed North Side Transfer Zone Site Location

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (CityLink) has made the decision to re-evaluate the proposed location at 4310 N. Brandywine Drive for the North Side Transfer Zone facility site.  CityLink, in conjunction with the consulting firm TranSystems, held a public meeting on December 5 at First Federated Church’s Life Together Center to provide information on the proposed site.  Residents of that area in attendance expressed their concerns over the facility being located near a residential neighborhood, which was a factor in prompting CityLink to re-evaluation this location.

The 2018 Peoria Historical Calendar is now available.  This year, the calendar features vintage photographs of the theatres that were once prevalent entertainment venues throughout Peoria and helped coin the popular phrase “Will it play in Peoria?”  The photographs for this year’s calendar were provided by the Peoria Historical Society, and the historical content for each page was provided by the Bradley University Special Collections Center and the Peoria Public Library....
