GPMTD to Receive New Paratransit (CityLift) Vehicles in July

The Greater Peoria Mass Transit District (GPMTD) has entered into a contract with Central States Bus Sales, Inc. for the purchase and delivery of 26 new paratransit (CityLift) vehicles. These vehicles are Ford E450 Body-on-Chassis with a Champion Challenger body. They will have the capacity to accommodate up to 14 passengers and numerous wheelchairs. The contract GPMTD entered into with Central States Bus Sales, Inc. for the 26 vehicles is not to exceed $1,656,200. There is an option to purchase an additional 14 paratransit vehicles over the next five years.

Jennifer Lee attended her first board meeting on March 6, 2017 since she was appointed to the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District Board of Trustees on February 14, 2017. Mayor Jim Ardis appointed her to the board. Lee is serving the remainder of James Polk’s term until June 30, 2017. Polk passed away last November and served on the GPMTD Board of Trustees for 12 years.

CityLink to Provide March Madness Transportation for 2017 IHSA Basketball Tournament

CityLink will operate continuous bus shuttles from participating hotels to the Peoria Civic Center for the Illinois High School Association Boys Basketball State Finals on Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11 for the Class 1A and 2A games, and Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 for the Class 3A and 4A games. Shuttles will pick up in 20-30 minute increments beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will run through 11:00 p.m. each weekend.

CityLink is partnering with the Student Senate and Smith Career Center at Bradley University for a contest on the social media platform Snapchat called “BU on the Bus” from February 20, 2017 until March 21, 2017.

CityLink to Remove Temporary Stop on #4 Knoxville Route on Mar. 6

The temporary bus stop located at Knoxville and Crossing Drive near McDonald’s, Walgreens, Huck’s and the Schnucks in Knoxville Crossing will be removed and no longer available after March 6, 2017.

CityLink Hosting Black History Month Program at Transit Center on Feb. 16

CityLink will host a program to celebrate Black History Month at the Transit Center (407 SW Adams, Peoria) on Thursday, February 16 starting at 10:00 a.m. The program will include choir performances by 3rd grade students from Christ Lutheran School and skit and choir performances by Peoria High School students. Guest speaker for the program is Chris Reynolds, Athletic Director at Bradley University. The program is expected to last approximately one hour.

CityLink route and schedule information is now live in Google Maps and available for the general public to use. Simply provide the trip origin and destination in Google Maps and click or tap on the train icon. Users are then provided the routes available from their point of origin to their destination, the estimated length of the trip, walking directions, fare information and schedule information.
